  • What is truth? a mobile army of metaphors, metonyms, anthropomorphisms, in short, a sum of human relations which were poetically and rhetorically heightened, transferred, and adorned, and after long use seem solid, canonical, and binding to a nation. Truths are illusions about which it has been forgotten that they are illusions, worn-out metaphors without sensory impact, coins which have lost their image and now can be used only as metal, and no longer as coins.
    - Friedrich Nietzsche, Philosopher.

  • Spellings! Bah! Teeny little zits on the ass! Who cares!

    - Mukhtaran Mai.. No wait, Major Azhar! Haha!

  • Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion.
    - L. Ron Hubbard, Scientologist.

  • It's always good to end a paper with a quote. He says someone else has already said it best. So if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. 'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

  • Every man, woman and child alive should see the desert one time before they die. Nothing at all for miles around, nothing but sand and rocks and cactus and blue sky. Not a soul in sight. No sirens, no car alarms, nobody honking at you, no madman cursing or pissing on the streets. You find the silence out there. You find the peace. You can find God.

  • Jesus loves me, but I just want to be friends.
    - ?

  • I used to think if I killed somebody I would want to go to the cemetery and apologize. That's not really what guilt is though. Guilt's a feeling you have towards people who are living. It's like everyday you're out there shaking hands, talking. But you, the guilty person, you know that it's all unreal. It's like guilt is this secret inside of you that destroys the fabric of everything, and then everything's unreal. You can't even have a life. But it's not necessary for it to destroy you. You just have to face it.
    - Crime and Punishment in Suburbia, movie.

  • Apollo stood on the cliff. Come to the edge, he said. We can't, they said, it's too high. Come to the edge, he said. We can't, they said, it's too high. Come to the edge, he said. We can't, they said, we'll fall. Come to the edge, he said. They came. And he pushed them. And they flew.

    Where were you?

You asked me where I was.
    And I was right here.
    You just. . . didn't look.
    The sunshine invaded my peace.
    I didn't say a word.
The music, the aura spread through the room.
Caressing the soft marble floor, water in lovemaking.
    I didn't say a word.
It was cyan. It was bliss.
    I didn't say a word.
You turned around, it was your voice.
You bent and looked at me, made me look up.
You asked me where I was.
    I was there. Standing.
    I didn't say a word.
Bars and windows, the winged creature was caged.
    Air and convention refused flight.
    You just. . . didn't look. . .
    You didn't pay attention.
You asked me where I was.
    I was right here,
    But I didn't say a word.
In solemn prayer, I bent and cried.
In outright lunacy, I shrieked and sniveled.
    You couldn't even bother,
But you asked me where I was.
    I wiped away a tear,
    I calmed myself down,
I put up a straight face, and stood here.
    I didn't say a word.
Time goes by, like the rebellious sand settling the dune
Lost in rotation, humanity lost in the race
    Prophets stop and think
    And we look on.
It was ecstasy, but for you I awoke.
And found, in reality, the mirage. The illusion of rapture.
    You never looked.
I had a smile on my face, I was right here.
    You never cared. . .
You asked me where I was.
    I didn't say a word, I never did...

P.S. Sheen, Dhoop Kinaray is ALL me. Trust me, its ALL me. You'll understand when there's less academic tension and more coffee and shemrez around. =)

    The Fool Martyr's Lovesong

The perfectionist hath lost his perfection

…The beautiful little butterfly awoke in a stir
and I look at her with my yearning eyes
a smile that never quit, a feeling that still hasn’t gone
    She sensed a rainbow
    And turned on her heel
    She flexed her lucid wings
I didn’t want to let her go,
but I didn’t want to taint her flight
I watched her move in the love-crevice of my palm
And with a swish, she flew away
Like the melody in my heart, slowly dying out
Like the love being stolen away from within my soul
    I looked at her
    Looked at her fly away
    I smile a little, I cry a little,
put my hands in my pockets
I turn away and never look back
    I didn’t deserve her? Heh…
    And then I turn
    And she was gone.
    I wipe away a tear
    And I was lost.
    She left me
    And I was alone.
Lost furthermore in the solitude of my pathetic, heathen mortal existence
Maybe in the next life, I said to myself,
    If there is one
    I’m not so sure
    I lost her once
    She never came back
    I’m not so sure
    I’m not so sure…
